How Modulus Works
From record retrieval to ongoing care, every step is designed for thoroughness. This is how premium healthcare should work.
Share Your Records and Research
Provide whatever you have. Lab results, imaging, notes, your own AI research. We read it. If you have done your own homework, we honor it. We'll sort out fact from fiction to get you on the right track. You can upload records, PubMed articles, and personal notes at any time.
Complete Medical History Retrieval
Consumer health apps can only access what you push to them, and once you do, they own it, and they can share it. By law, only licensed healthcare providers can query your complete medical history from other providers. Apple Health cannot. ChatGPT Health cannot. Modulus can. We retrieve records from every provider, lab, and imaging company you have ever used, including paper files and legacy systems data from long ago, all painstakingly retrieved using manual processes.

Physician Review
A board-certified Modulus physician reviews every detail of the findings, connects the dots, and validates the conclusions. The human healthcare expert is the step no AI chatbot, algorithm, or biomarker panel can ever replace, and no inexpensive medical service can replicate.
Confirmation Testing
We order only the tests needed to confirm, rule out, or refine a diagnosis. Lab work, imaging, specialty testing. What is clinically indicated – not indiscriminate biomarker panels or expensive and unnecessary imaging that may lead to unnecessary worry.
Why indiscriminate testing is harmfulDiagnosis and Treatment
Modulus can provide a legal diagnosis, prescriptions, and a clear treatment plan, along with documentation for insurance claims, disability filings, and specialist referrals. For urgent cases, our STAT upgrade delivers results within minutes to hours.
Ongoing Monitoring
Modulus actively listens for new updates to your health across every healthcare network you touch, including new lab results, new provider visits, and new hospital admissions. We notify you when maintenance testing is due and provide ongoing follow-up until you are better.
Specialist Referrals
When you need a specialist, our physician will call them directly if indicated. We send your complete workup ahead and brief the specialist so they understand your case before you arrive. When urgency demands it, we push for priority scheduling.
We Pick Up the Phone
If you need a specialist referral, our providers will pick up the phone:
“Hi Dr. Miller, this is Dr. Johnson with Modulus. I have sent over Mrs. Smith. I have already run the labs and our differential diagnosis suggests Condition X. Would you please see her ASAP?”
When you need a specialist, we do not simply hand you a phone number. Our physicians will message directly, send your complete workup ahead, and brief the specialist so they understand your case before you arrive. When urgency demands it, we push for priority scheduling. A specialist cannot ignore another physician the way they can ignore a patient waving a chatbot printout.
Emergency Support
If you have a life-threatening illness, Modulus can transmit your relevant medical history to your treating provider within minutes.
We answer calls around the clock from paramedics, emergency room physicians, and your care team, wherever you are in the world. Your complete health history is available when you need it, and your care team can query your records directly.
“Does this patient have preexisting cardiac conditions?”
“Does this patient have an allergy to sulfa drugs?”
Modulus provides searchable medical history that can bring any provider up to speed in seconds, and it's secure, audited, HIPAA-regulated, and never shared with unauthorized third parties.
Why Full Records Are Difficult to Obtain
Your health history is fragmented across every provider you have ever visited. Different hospitals. Different systems. Different decades. Some records are electronic. Many are on paper, filed in storage rooms, or locked in legacy systems that do not communicate with one another.
Under Carequality and TEFCA, only a licensed healthcare provider can retrieve your complete history on your behalf. Consumer apps cannot do this. They receive only what you push to them. Modulus handles the retrieval, including manual requests to providers still operating on paper and fax.
What Consumer Apps Cannot Access
- Records from providers not in patient portals
- Paper files and faxed documents
- Legacy systems from decades ago
- Providers you have forgotten about
- Cash-pay visits with no network record
- Other records not held in electronic format
